Zone Diet

The zone diet works on the idea that thousand of years ago, we ate meat and our metabolism is designed to handle a meat – based diet.

Many people gave positive feedbacks about this weight loss diet plan. The Zone Diet, also known as the 40-30-30 plan contains 40 % carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat.

The food industry has been continuously evolving and more carbohydrates have been introduced into our diet, which sadly causes an imbalance in our metabolism. Extra weight can also be attributed to the many grains in our daily diet. With the Zone Diet, we return to our ancestors eating habits where meat, vegetables and fruit were the mainly consumed foods.

The zone diet is based upon the idea that you need the right amount of all 3 food types in order to control the insulin in your bloodstream. If the insulin level is high, it can increase fat storage in the body. By using the Zone Diet, you’ll actually optimize your body’s metabolic function. Through regulating your blood sugar levels, you allow your body to burn the excess body fat.

Even though you are not prohibited from any of the food groups, it’s better to avoid foods with high fat and carbohydrates such as grains, starches, and pastas. The ideal sources of carbohydrates would be fruits and vegetables like olive oil, almonds, and avocados are recommended. Zone Diet says, use food as drug for a better health, for weight lass and to prevent diseases.

You can simplify the diet by putting on your plate 1/3 low fat protein and 2/3 vegetables and fruits.

Some associations claim that the Zone Diet is a high protein diet and it is not healthy, nor recommended for weight loss. Also, some claim that it has not be proven effective in the long term, they say that it is hazardous because you can lose some vitamin and mineral intake which is present in certain foods or that other diets are better.

Knowing this and knowing also that this diet has received many positive feedbacks you can experiment with it, maybe it suits you well, and it is a good option when turning to weight loss.
